Review: Nars Luminous Weightless Foundation

Hi everyone! Today I'm going to review the latest foundation release from Nars. I've been using it for a while and finally feel like I have a firm opinion on it and can do a full review. I've also used Nars Sheer Glow and absolutely love that so will be able to compare the two.
When I first bought this foundation I was at the height of dry skingate. And it was the worst thing I've ever put on my face. It hurts to think about it. It was like 'look at all this dry skin you have hahahahah'. Needless to say I ran to the bathroom and removed it as fast as humanly possible. If you have dry skin I feel like this probably isn't the foundation for you. Unless you moisturise the shit out of your face. Anyway once I'd found a moisturiser I liked and my dry skin wasn't as bad I gave this another try. They say that one pump is enough for your entire face but for real... one pump is absolutely tiny. I thought I might have a faulty pump at first because so little came out however once I'd worked with it a few times it becomes clear that it is enough. If you pack too much on one part of your face it starts to look very 'foundation-y' and not 'weightless' at all. If you use the right amount though I think it works really well. After first putting it on I try to ignore it while I do my eye makeup then when I come to do the rest of my face makeup it seems to have sunk into my skin nicely and starts to have the luminous look whilst not slipping and sliding round my face.
I think the difference between Sheer Glow and this foundation is that anyone can use Sheer Glow. I love it and I'm pretty oily whilst it also works for people with dry skin and any other skin types. However I wouldn't say the new foundation is a universal foundation at all. Another main difference is that Sheer Glow is much easier to use. I feel like you can slap it on without really thinking about it. You can put hardly on or a bit more on for more coverage and it'll probably still look good. The Luminous Weightless foundation takes much more practise and concentration I think.
I felt like towards the end of my last bottle of Sheer Glow I was getting quite oily, and whilst I still get oily in this foundation I think it lasts really well on the skin which is one of the benefits of the more matte finish. When my bottle runs out I have absolutely no idea whether I'm going to buy this again or go back to Sheer Glow.
After the debacle of my first encounter with this foundation I didn't hold out much hope but I've ended up really liking it. I think it's perfect for my skin type but I also think it won't work out for a lot of people which is a shame.
Let me know if you've tried this in the comments below! Thanks for stopping by, lots of love,

  3. I haven't actually tried a NARS foundation before as the nearest counter to me is in another town, but I've been tempted by Sheer Glow for ages! After reading this I think I would still stick with that one as I like my foundations a bit easier to work with. Fantastic review :)
